Why should I outsource to Renaissance, if I can get lower hourly rates in places like India and Eastern Europe?
Even if cost-reduction is your only objective in outsourcing, hourly rate is not
always a good indication of whether, or how much, you will save. What you really need to evaluate is how much you are saving over the course of the project. A savings of 60% on an hourly rate is not really a bargain (or even a savings!) if it takes twice as long to develop, has significant additional overhead, and needs to be repeatedly redone before you get what you need.
Are there other good reasons companies outsource software development, besides lowering costs?
Sure – and sometime these other reasons can be more important, or at least as important, than simple financial savings. What you really want to evaluate when considering outsourcing is the value that you obtain. Other forms of value, besides cost savings, include:
- Faster Time to Market
- Creativity and Originality
- Leveraging New Technologies
At Renaissance, you receive additional value with savings in development costs.
What is the single most important success factor in outsourcing software development projects?
Communication. You need to communicate clearly. You need to communicate often.
So, is it enough to have an outsourcing partner who speaks English well?
Usually not. A successful software development team and project require more than just a good vocabulary. As native English speakers, we go beyond the dictionary meaning of the words - we also know everyday usage, slang, and nuances. This minimizes misunderstandings and enables the building of a close, coherent team and partnership. At Renaissance, when we say that we speak your language, we meant that verbally, culturally, and technically.
Do you need to have everything spelled out in great detail in order to succeed?
No. But we do need clear guidance, information, and a responsible point of contact from the client. We work closely with the client’s in-house staff, leveraging their specific business knowledge and sharing with them our technical Expertise. We are also proactive and draw on our many years of expertise that allows us to know
- when to be creative
- when to suggest and discuss alternatives
- when to simply just do what the client has requested
Why do you only offer your services using Microsoft Tools and Technologies?
In order to maintain our particularly high levels of quality and efficiency, we have chosen to focus only on Microsoft (and related) tools and technologies. Attempting to expand our services to Linux and Java development, would cause us to lose focus and lower the added value we provide to our clients. We also have a special “insider” relationship with Microsoft, which allows us to provide our clients with additional strategic value.
OK – This sounds great, but how do I know you can really deliver?
Renaissance has an extensive record of successful development projects locally, in the US, and internationally. We would be happy to discuss with you the nature of the different projects, the technologies and techniques employed, and to put you in contact with our past clients, so you discuss directly with them how we contributed to the success of their projects.
